Newsworthy

2012 in a nutshell

2012 was a beast. Mostly the cute and cuddly kind but occasionally the barbed, spiky kind. Now I’m really looking forward to a creative, peaceful 2013 and lots of time spent with my little people, the sewing machine and the blog. Still, like last year’s review, when the projects gather together all pretty like this, it does appear some sewing has taken place. Just not between August and October…ahem.
As you can probably tell, my sewing time is a fight between sewing for the bruisers and a very wearable wardrobe for myself. And I’m aware that some of you are here for the boys and some for the adult stuff so hopefully there’s been some balance. I have to say, one of the perks of 2012 was landing a job at a fabric shop that only sells apparel fabrics, beautiful and well priced at that, and no home furnishings to wade through. Combine that with a healthy staff discount and you can see why plotting and planning my hand-made wardrobe might be stealing my attention.

Still, the boys did not do so badly…
Actually they may have won out thanks to a couple of Kids Clothing Week Challenges…
…a handful of guest posts….
…and their mother’s unquenchable thirst for re-fashioning thrift store T-shirts…
Well, that’s 2012, I should probably go clean my kitchen now.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

Vote for my top!

Remember this one? I entered it into Made By Rae’s Spring Top Sewalong and it’s made it into this week’s Top of The Tops. Exciting enough on its own, but now there is a chance it could earn some real fabric dollars too. Which thrills me deeply. Enough to get past the squeamishness of self-promoting. So if you haven’t voted for your favourite yet, there’s still time to pop over to Rae’s today.  I won’t lie, I’m kind of, sort of really hoping it might be mine (letter E). Is this getting awkward? There’s still two whole weeks of Spring Top Sewalong left, time enough to get inspired, whip up a top and chuck it in the pool. The flickr Pool. And if you need some inspiration there’s no shortage so far…

It was a very good year

Does anyone else like to indulge in ridiculous head games? Lately, I’ve been looking back through 2011 with my should’a, would’a, could’a goggles on. So, as a little feel-good exercise, I decided to make a collage using ‘collage’ (funnily enough) on Picnik. And seeing it all like this…turns out I haven’t been sitting on my butt all year. Step away from the whip.
This was a great way to finish the year on a good note, kind of like hanging kindy art on the wall again. I can’t recommend this enough, if you’ve been doing some sewing / crafting this year and could do with a little self-nurturing!

A GIVEAWAY!

For a while there it was show time at Cirque Du Bebe and it wasn’t pretty. A circus of babies is a pretty accurate translation. Now, just because mine came with a built in pm alarm clock, is no reason for you to suffer. So today we are going to celebrate you lovely mummies (plus the sleep that I SHOULD be getting!) with a vintage hairpin giveaway. Don’t worry, I’m wearing my best pyjamas for the occasion.

How it works: Leave a comment, stating the hairpin set that you just love the mostest and Friday morning the winner will be drawn at random.
GOOD LUCK
